Purification Equipment Research Institute of CSIC (PERIC)

Purification Equipment Research Institute of CSIC, which belongs to China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, was founded in 1966. It locates in Handan City, Hebei Province, China and covers an area of around 900,000 square meters. It is a state-level R&D institute which is mainly engaged in R&D design and manufacture, technical service, etc. There are more than 2,000 employees including 870 professionals.  84 are researchers, 420 are senior engineers with different scholarships. Hydrogen generation engineering department, as one of the subordinate departments of PERIC, is mainly focus on research, design, manufacture, marketing, service of hydrogen generation plant, as well as utilization and R&D of hydrogen energy.


Hydrogen generation plant is one kind of pillar product of PERIC, pressurized hydrogen generation plant therein is the largest civilian industrial product originated from military technology,as well as one of the key developed technologies of PERIC. Since the pressurized hydrogen generation plant developed in 1984, more than 20 different models and types of hydrogen generation plants by water electrolysis have been developed, they are of different hydrogen capacities ranging from 0.5m3/h to 1500m3/h and of different series such as ZDQ, DDQ, ZHDQ, CNDQ, KZDQ. Up to now, the maximum hydrogen capacity of a single set of electrolyzer developed by PERIC reaches to 1500m3/h which is the largest hydrogen capacity of electrolyzers all over the world. Successively the hydrogen purification system with different series such as QGY, QGD ,QC, QCY, QCN, QCC have been developed for hydrogen generation plants, all of them are widely applied in different industrial sectors such as electron, electric power, metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials, new energy resource, astronics, meteorology, etc. In order to satisfy the market, new kinds of plants have also been developed such as hydrogen generation plant by methanol cracking, hydrogen generation plant from natural gas, hydrogen generation plant by ammonia cracking, oxygen generation plant by pressure swing adsorption, nitrogen generation plant by pressure swing adsorption, DM water generation system, chiller and closed-loop cooling water circulation system, etc. With the continuous and stable development of technology and products for more than 40 years, there have been complete products of hydrogen generation plants with different models and types to meet different requirements.


Up to now, more than 1000 sets of pressurized hydrogen generation plants,and more than 300 sets in total of hydrogen purification system, hydrogen/oxygen generation plant by pressure swing adsorption, hydrogen generation plant by methanol cracking have been manufactured and sold, which makes the cumulative production value more than 2 billion Yuan. Our products and customers are spreading all over the world, such as Europe, Middle East, Africa, North East Asia, South East Asia, etc.


The hydrogen generation plant by water electrolysis was listed in National Torch Plan Projects in 1990, also was listed in “National New-Product Project” by National Economy and Trade Committee and selected into “the Choice of Excellent Patents and Technology in the World” in 1994. Good performance and service of our products makes us stand on the highest level domestically. The key technical specifications have reached to the international advanced level. We have been awarded with the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology more than 20 times, most of which have filled the domestic technological gaps, and we have acquired 12 items of national patents. Pressurized electrolyzer with non-asbestos membrane owned with independent intellectual property by PERIC conforms to the European and American requirements in environmental protection and secures more than 60% of domestic market.


There is an excellent team composed of professionals and workers in hydrogen generation engineering department of PERIC which is engaged in research and design, production and processing, performance test, installation and commissioning, after-sale service with advanced process technology, a prefect quality management system and a production capacity of 300 sets of plants yearly. We acquired Certificate of Conformity of GB/T19001 (ISO9001) Quality Management System certification in 1998; we passed the China Compulsory Certification by China Quality Certification Center in 2005; we acquired Certificate of Conformity of the Environment and Occupation Health Management System Certification and began to implement QEO integrated management in 2008. It has been expected that hydrogen energy era is coming.
